Gerry
Fay (formal name: Mary Fay) is in Tacoma General Hospital following
surgery for colon cancer. I talked with her today, and she said
the prognosis is good, that "they got it all." She is
expecting to return home in about four days, and believes she
will need to undergo chemotherapy. Tacoma General phone # 253-403-1000.
Thought
I would let you know what's been going on around here. I hope
to return to work tomorrow the 14th of July, pretty out of shape.
Had to go into St. Joe's hospital last Tuesday and have tubes
put in my ears.
On July 3, Lavida had a seizure, and Gerry and I went down to
Oregon. Gerry stayed there until last Thursday. I came home (because
of ear operation), then I drove down last Thursday, and we drove
back the same day.
Hope things go better for the next five and a half months than
they have the first seven and a half, been kind of a rough year.
Take care Mike 7/13/03
By
Mike-I went out Friday and did some things I shouldn't have and
pulled some muscles. The doctor pulled the staples Thursday. I
hope to go back to work in three or four weeks, but that's up
in the air. I'm getting sick of being off work. The company I
worked with said come on back when I feel like it. It's a demolition
company that tears down buildings and whatever needs demolishing.
Other than that we're fine. I asked the doctor about chemo and
radiation, and he said there is none. I was surprised but not
disappointed. It was just one lump and from what I know they got
it all. I asked the receptionist if he wanted to see me again,
and she said she didn't know. I'll talk to the receptionist when
I go in Thursday for an ear exam. 6-23-2003
Sorry
about the upside down photo. Would not fit on copier. Was too
big but thought I would try it anyway. Doc said things were looking
good and might be able to go back to work in maybe 2 or 3 weeks,
leave it up to me. Mike 6-19-03
Hi
Folks, my name is Mike Fay. I am married to Gerry Johns/Arnold/Fay.
Last March 17,while working on my outside deck, I was ripping
up the old boards and replacing them with new. The stringers were
fine, so left them alone. Just like a Laurel and Hardy shot I
stepped back, fell and landed on a 2X8 on my left side. After
spending 6-7Hrs. in Emergency Room in the hospital, the C/T scan
came back. It showed that I had a lump on my Right Kidney. After
several more X-rays, 2 more C/T scans, the lump on right kidney
came back positive, slow growth cancer. Last Wed, June 11, my
right kidney was removed. The surgeons are pretty sure they have
gotten all of the cancer, The kidney was sent out for further
evaluation. Will let you know when results come back. For those
of you who know me and have been worried, thank-you.
If
anything good has come out of this, all I can say is I had a dull
ache on my right side for approximately a year to a year and a
half. I should have had it checked out. I mentioned it to the
doctor, but he never followed up. Do not leave it up to your doctor.
If you think you have a problem, get it checked out.
Thank you for your concern
