BRYANT-BURDETT

REUNION

2005

The 25th Annual Bryant-Burdett Reunion was held at Tampa's Lowry Park, Tampa Florida, on Sunday, November 13. Over 80 family members attended. The last of Nellie and William Burdett's twelve children died during 2005, so the attendees welcomed a new family matriarch: Dolores Parish Maxon, 89-year old niece of Nellie and daughter of Nellie's only sister, Mabel. Also in attendance were Dolores' sister, Ellen Emptage as well as daughters of Dolores, Joan Wright, Jean Marshall and June Summers. Attending from Ohio were Pat and Norbert Kimmet, daughter and son-in-law of Austin Burdett, Nellie's son. First time attendees from Savannah, Georgia, were Art and K.T. Burdett, son and daughter-in-law of Bud Burdett, son of Nellie.

Craft and art items brought by family members were raffled. One oil painting by the late Dorothy Burdett Fuerst was auctioned as was furniture made by Dorothy's late husband, Frank Fuerst. Singing and guitar playing were provided by Sarah Croughan, great-granddaughter of Viola Burdett Higgins and Wally Harrison, grandson of Viola.

Philip DuBose who organizes the annual reunion announced that Bryant-Burdett Reunion 2006 will be held the first Sunday of November instead of the usual second Sunday.
